Reported to range from Natal to East London (Ref. 3263, 5578) but Compagno 1997 (Ref. 9840) states that its occurrence in the east African coast needs further confirmation. Caught by anglers and in trawls and beach seines (Ref. 12484). Edible, but not popular, and many are released unharmed (Ref. 12484). Angling record 34 kg (Ref. 12484). Spearfishing of this species is illegal in Natal (Ref. 12484). Outside distributional range (Ref. 114953).
